Testimonials

I am so grateful for the kind words shared by the women (and men) I've had the opportunity to serve. Here is what they have to say:

"Karrie attended the birth of my fourth child.  At first I didn't think I needed a Doula because I had never had one.  I am so grateful that she was there.  This birth was very different from the others.  After the baby was out my husband had to do skin to skin with the baby because I could not.  I lost a lot of blood and the doctor was being careful taking out the placenta so I wouldn't lose any more blood.  Karrie was very helpful helping me stay calm and control my breathing.  I would recommend her services and would use her again." -Brytnie C.

"Karrie was amazing at the birth of my 5th child Adeline. I had never had a doula before and it made my experience a lot more comfortable, relaxing, and easy going when plans changed. She was supportive of all my decisions and I wouldn't recommend anyone more highly." -Amanda B.

"I could never express what a great support Karrie was for me. She helped not only with comfort, but also knowing what my options were and standing up for me. Thank you so much!" -Valoree R.

"I was interested in hiring a doula as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Since this is baby number one, and neither my sister nor my sister-in-law have kids either, I really didn't know what to expect as far as pregnancy and childbirth. My husband and I interviewed Karrie and decided to hire her. She was very helpful in sharing information at the two prenatal meetings which was wonderful as I ended up needing to be induced. Because we had talked through all of the different options, I felt able to make informed decisions and to question the doctor about the use of pitocin which I wanted to avoid (and did!). Karrie was also invaluable during labor. She helped both me and my husband stay calm and relaxed as long as possible (ha!). I am very grateful for the support that she provided. I won't say that I couldn't have done it without her because I'm sure I could have, but it would have been a much more stressful experience." -Emily B.

"I am a first time mom at the age of 42 and I think that Karrie Green is an excellent, caring and professional doula. She took the time to answer all of my and my family’s questions, she was very thorough with her checklist of things I needed to be aware of as far as my choices regarding birth at a hospital. The pros and cons of the drug and procedure options. She loaned me books so I could better educate myself about the birthing process, she helped me stay organized with a folder of handouts and what to expect. I was especially appreciative of her ability to anticipate my needs. She was constantly thinking of ways to comfort me like foot rubs and water poured over my tummy in the tub while in labor. Karrie was there every step of the way by getting me in and out of the tub while in labor, knowing how to handle me was way more than my husband could have done. I was induced, thus a long time in labor. Karrie spent an extra night the hospital with us because it was taking so long. She is very generous with her time. When I was holding steady at 4cm dilation for hours, Karrie suggested using my hypnobirthing CDs to help me refocus and relax. I didn’t have the brain power at that point to think of that option due to the drugs, exhaustion and overall feeling of being overwhelmed. That did the trick for me! I dilated to 8cm in about an hour and was pushing soon after that. She was a rock star post-partum also; the days after birth she was there answering my panicked questions about breastfeeding. My milk was slow to come in, she gave me techniques to try to make sure my fussy baby got enough food naturally. I can’t say enough good things about Karrie, she helped make my birthing day one of the best days of my life!" -Deon M.

"Karrie was fantastic from the second we hired her until after our son was born. During my pregnancy she offered a lot of support and resources. She lent me books and sent me links to great information when I had questions. She allowed us to make our own plans about labor and offered support rather than opinions. During labor she was very supportive and was just there for us, which was very reassuring. She knew when to step in with help and suggestions and when to step back and allow us some space to work together without her. We had complications and ended up having a Cesarean. She was very sweet and held my hand and comforted me while we waited and made those difficult decisions. If we chose to labor with our next pregnancy, we would absolutely hire Karrie again and recommend her to anyone." Rachel M.

"Karrie was great! She was very thorough in explaining her role to us, and very helpful in suggesting ways to make my wife's labor easier. One of the concerns I had with hiring a doula was, is she going to undermine what our doctor and nurses say. That was definitely not the case, she was there to help us and help us to ask the right questions that we could not remember during all the Crazines. I would definitely recommend her." Jon K.

"Karrie is wonderful! Even though my labor was fast and furious, having her at our birth was great in case things got long and crazy. Since my birth was fast Karrie provided a couple hours of postpartum care which was great. Honored to have been Karries first home birth!" Nichole R.

"Karrie was amazing! This was our first pregnancy and I cannot imagine having gone through it without her. She was knowledgeable, attentive, caring, respectful, and over exceeded our expectations. My wife loved all the pre, during and post labor massages and I really liked all of the pain management techniques she incorporated.  Labor was very long (50+ hrs), and Karrie was there for all of it. She even drove an hour when we got transferred from the birth center to the hospital! I'm especially thankful for those times when I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, when I had to step out of the room, and for when it was just the 3 of us. Had she not been there during those times (which was more than I expected) I would have been lost. Karrie was an unbelievable coach and person! Highly recommended!" Matt H.

"As my husband said after our son was born, we couldn't have done it without Karrie! I was in labor Friday to Sunday, and she stayed with us the whole time and was always trying something new to keep things going and help manage the pain. She gives incredible massages (highly recommend her pre and post labor massages) and she has endless ideas for labor (essential oils, rebozo, breathing techniques, visualization, pressure points, massage, constant support, etc.) We weren't sure if we needed a doula at first, but our midwife highly recommended it, and I'm so grateful we had Karrie by our side!" Brooke Z.

"When I first met Karrie, I told her that I planned to avoid labor induction and pain medication. Then, without warning her, I chose to be induced. I just informed her of the change and she rolled with it. Karrie treated me as the expert in what was best for me and my baby when I needed it the most. Even after delivery, I called Karrie and told her how worried I was that I wasn't taking care of my baby properly so Karrie sent me some great articles and she reassured me. It was just what I needed.

In addition to induction, I got an epidural. Before hiring Karrie, I assumed that if you get an epidural, you don’t really need a doula; this is not true. Karrie continued to support my labor even after I was numb from the waist down. She even massaged my feet before I lost feeling in them. Karrie knew what I needed before I did. She offered chapstick just before I noticed my lips were chapped. She spooned ice chips into my mouth when I couldn’t keep down water. She knew when to hold my hand and when to let go. Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and having Karrie with me was the smartest thing I could have done to prepare for it. I had several nurses and midwives and my husband with me, but having Karrie’s help made all the difference.
Also, she brought her massage table to my post-partum meeting and gave me a much-needed, post-baby massage. For anyone having a baby, I recommend hiring Karrie." Rebecca G.
