About Me

As the middle of seven children I was introduced to birth and breastfeeding at a young age. I was fascinated by my mothers pregnancy month by month booklet, repeatedly turning the pages and wondering at the colorful drawings of the inside of the womb.  I remember peaking around the corner of the hospital waiting room at the age of three to witness what I could of my younger brothers birth. When I was eight my mom invited all five of us right into her birthing space, after a lesson on childbirth by her midwife. At eleven, when most of my siblings stayed in the waiting room for the birth of our youngest sister, I somehow found myself in the labor and delivery room just in time to witness crowning and delivery! Time would fade those memories until I began having my own babies. It was my own birth experiences that made me realize I wanted to find a way to help others though this process. It wasn't until after the birth of my fourth child in 2013 that I determined I would become a doula as soon as the time was right.

In 2015 we relocated to Austin and I joined the Mower County Breastfeeding Coalition. By January 2016 I was officially  ready to begin my certification training. I completed the Madriella Birth and Postpartum Doula certifications in March, and by mid July, completed my in-person training through Birth Arts International. I received my massage certificate from Riverland Ccommunity College  in April of 2018 and Certified as a Lactation Counselor through the ALPP - Healthy Children Project in August 2018.
